For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of Godʼs truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed.

Romans 15:8

What is Romans 15:8?

The Romans 15:8 network is a new voluntary grouping of Church leaders who wish to publically identify their support for upholding, teaching and exploring the Biblical understanding of Israel within God’s redemptive purposes. The network would see this Biblical understanding in terms of five broad core convictions:

Core Convictions
  1. A clear affirmation of the ‘Biblical Jewish roots’ underpinning the Christian faith.
  2. A passionate commitment to sharing the Gospel in theologically astute and culturally relevant ways among Jewish People
  3. A deep appreciation for Messianic Jewish identity within the wider Ecclesia.
  4. A firm rejection of Replacement Theology (Supersessionism) and Two-Covenant Theology.
  5. A resolute opposing of all forms of Anti-Semitism.

Who is Romans 15:8 for?

Church leaders, theologians, ordinands and anyone with a preaching, teaching or pastoral ministry within the Church.

The network seeks to be a welcoming network in which each member will be encouraged and equipped in order to grow in their understanding of Israel within God’s purposes.

This will be done by providing good online resources, a forum for discussion, peer review of teaching material, and occasional public conferences and meetings. Wherever possible the Romans 15:8 network will seek to cooperate with other ministries which have similar values and aims.

Why is Romans 15:8 important?

The Church today faces many important issues and often there is confusion and division over core teaching and ministry practice. One such issue is the Biblical understanding of Israel. The understanding one promotes has implications for almost every area of theology and mission practice, but especially for Biblical interpretation, Jewish-Christian relations, Ecclesiology and Eschatology.

It is vital as leaders in these testing times and as we face such important issues that we seek always to know and share “…the whole will of God.” (Acts 20:27) and to “…contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude v3). It is hoped that the Romans 15:8 network may make a contribution to aid such an important calling.

“For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of Godʼs truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed.”
